Google Page Creator

I don't know what Google is up to. Someone out there jovially claims Google Page Creator is the beginning of the end of Microsoft Frontpage(Ref[1]). I doubt that. My bet is still on the Microsoft. In fact, there are still some kinks need to be worked out. I did some test on Web Page Forwarding an hour ago, and the Page Creator finally blew itself up, telling me that I have reached 100 page limit, which I categorically deny.
However, the good news is that I can get extra 100MB space so that I don't have to use the incongruous "Yahoo Briefcase" (Ref[2]) any more.
Jars to Googler's ear: (Please don't throw eggs at me!)
*) The flexibility of Page Creator is paltry. It only allows me to manipulate a very limited part of the HTML file. However, this looseness by itself is the reason I was wrongfully accused early for hogging on web pages.
*) The choice of templates is still limited.
*) The domain name easily gives away existing Gmail account. It could be an open invitation to spammers.
(To save me from being lynched). Google is the very opposite of evil Microsoft! I have high confidence that Google could do much better than that!! Way to go, Google!!!
One more thing, thanks to the Google Page Creator, now I have one extra domain name for my blog. Check out the following:

Unseasonably Chilly

The weather is still unseasonably chilly...
Being able to study at Berkeley has always been one of my many dreams, and that dream was shattered last week by an email of rejection, in spite of my best effort.
I was caught off guard, to be honest, 'cause I deem myself to be in better shape than I was before. I even skipped job offers to wait for this opportunity. In fact, (In hindsight, it might seem sardonic:-< ) when I chose my new cell phone plan, I deliberately changed my cell to Berkeley local number. Now I have to carry that number for another two years even I have nothing to do with that city in the foreseeable future. Even I myself couldn't contain the chuckle at this moment. 8-|
It is no doubt a blow to my aspiration and confidence. But I guess setbacks are just part of the life. This is not the first time, and surely it won't be the last. Life goes on with or without them...

Movie – Before Sunrise / Before Sunset

(The following are comments on the movie “Before Sunrise” and its sequel “Before Sunset”. If you haven’t seen these two movies and do not want them to be spoiled, please stop reading right here. ...Come to think of it, they even come in pairs. If they are not love movies, what else could they be? )
It is not far away from this past Valentine's day. Let me jump onto the love bandwagon as well...
Thanks to my friend Bertrand (Ref[1]), who speaks glowingly of the "Before Sunrise"(Ref[2]), I decide to give them a shot.
Let me start with the 1995 “Before Sunrise”. This movie is...Let me just say that this movie has many angles, which Bertrand and I must take them from different vantage points. The movie begins with a US 20 something boy met a French 20-ish girl on a train across Europe. And the boy managed to persuade that girl to hop off the train mid way at Vienna for one day visit. (When I reached here, I said to myself. “God, since when the adolescence lasts so long.) The rest of the movie is flat and narrative. The two were wandering on Vienna’s streets, talking nonsense all the time until the very end. I would rather call it a “fling”, as opposed to “date”. What a let down!
But for youngsters, they are entitled by life to be spoony and spontaneous. Life is a clear slate for them. They can afford to have wild dreams. And the best part is, they can go for these dreams, dearly.
However, the dark side of life is that life is too short and everyone ages. Whether you are a whiz kid or princess charming, chances are you would drift into the slow lane one day. Before you even realize it, there comes the off ramp. The worst part is, you become more and more used to the drifting, even developed certain amount of addiction to the malaise.
Almost a decade after these two young lovers were met, they ran into each other once again in Paris(Ref[3]). You could vaguely see the notches time has left on their foreheads. Still the chitchat, still the rove along the streets, but you could smell the stagnant air shrouding them. Close to the end, when they had to say good bye to each other, when they were in the minivan to the airport, which would swing by Jesse(Julie Delpy)'s home to drop her off, the prattle reached its peak. Interestingly, when one of them was babbling and gazing through the window, the other stretched his (her) arm, trying to comfort the opposite party, but that arm stopped midway, then cringed. It is a very subtle detail, finesse engineered by the director. These two have more weight in their life than they did a decade ago. And Physics says, weight carries inertia. Good luck to all the star-crossed lovers.
